TESS (HULL) Ltd, a security and systems integrator working with a UK-based college, partnered with Dahua Technology to address ongoing site safety concerns. The college had experienced multiple incidents, particularly around the bike sheds, which created an urgent need for enhanced video surveillance and a more efficient incident response capability.

Solutions
The installation focused on deploying Dahua’s latest surveillance equipment, integrating Mini Hubble cameras for dedicated coverage of the bike sheds, fisheye cameras for wide-area visibility and de-warping and a range of wide-angle cameras to monitor busy access points. These were unified through Dahua’s DSS platform, offering the college’s security team a seamless user experience and centralized control.
The Mini Hubble cameras provided focused coverage and auto-tracking around the bike sheds, a previously high-risk area for theft and loitering. The fisheye cameras enabled wide-area visibility with de-warping to maintain clarity across large spaces, such as communal areas and corridors. Wide-angle cameras supplied further coverage at key access points, ensuring no area was left unchecked.
Dahua’s DSS platform unified the system, streamlining video search and playback. Customizable alert settings, event tagging and smart search filters have made it easier for staff to identify and act on incidents in real-time or retrospectively. The system was specifically chosen to meet the college’s need for rapid video search, fast incident retrieval and a straightforward interface for daily operation.
Results
Since the installation, the college has noticed a notable improvement in the safety of its students and the overall efficiency of the surveillance system. Footage can now be accessed and reviewed with minimal delay, allowing the security team to respond swiftly and effectively to incidents.
